10/20: The Undersea has Invaded!
The theme of TCbT2 is simple -- you can change the world, if you try hard enough. The execution of that theme is anything but easy. The stories which make up TCbT2 have a variety of different themes, and while we believe there is room for many different stories here, we also believe in providing structure for the stories told, as well as in keeping an overriding story and its subplots and themes in mind. Thus the overabundance of history and background files for TCbT2; the one caveat we offer you is that, while you're here, there's always something more to learn. We are playing with a world in which glamour and banality are both as fluid as the waters of the Pacific Ocean. For some, computers and the high-tech buzz of the electric world is glamorous, while the lingering remains of the seventies counter-culture are banality given physical form, clinging gamely to old patterns. For others, street performance and art are their only candles against the coldness of chrome. Everything changes. Everything stays the same. We are telling a vast and overarching story of hope, loss, love, forgiveness and pain. If this sounds ambitious...it is. Our plot staff has been working on this game in bits and pieces for upwards of four years. If it sounds egotistical, maybe it's a little bit of that, too; this is not a private playground, but it is a long and coherent story that you will have the chance to alter, change and affect by your actions. We are not playing out some old fairy tale, or just another round of 'we are the beautiful people'. We are telling the story of how the world begins and ends and begins again; we are telling the tale that hides behind the happy ever after. You're welcome to join us, if you'd like. The story's end is not yet written, but we know the telling itself will be a wonderful adventure. Once upon a time...
